This large contemporary new build house was designed by the architect to make the most of the generous estuary views, with plenty of wide sliding glass doors in the main open plan living space. The clients, who have a young family, introduced plenty of pops of bright colour, against the backdrop of off white walls and polished resin floors, giving the house a fun and happy feel.

The windows needed a little softening though, whilst not obscuring the views, and an open weave fabric, with the most minimal of heading treatments, fitted the brief perfectly. A copper toned colourway was chosen, which complements the metal finishes of the woodburner and striking stair balustrade beautifully. Elsewhere, Venetian blinds filter the strong sunlight, whilst brightly coloured blackout blinds have been used in the childrens’ bedrooms.
